Is it right and godly to wish or pray for the destruction of your enemies?
Please let look at the Bible for answers.
There are many bible verses that provide precise answer to the questions.
In order to be brief here I will limit myself to one in particular.
Luke 9: 51-56 provides an account of the position of the Lord Jesus to the question.
It was recorded that the Lord Jesus wanted to pass through a village of Samaritans to Jerusalem but he and his disciples were not allowed to pass through the village by the dwellers. The chapter did not capture the reason why the village did not allow them to pass but every student of the Word will know Jews had nothing to do with Samaritans. The historical bad relationship between the two nations might be the reason but the Samaritans would have their reason(s) for denying the master to pass through their village.
In response to the denying, James and John , the sons of Zebedee who were disciples of Jesus told him “Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did”
What was the response of the master? “He turned, and rebuked them and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them”. The master corrected them with definite word by saying the approach had no connection to him (God) .
He continued further by saying the destruction of people was and forever contrary to his nature and mission on earth. “the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them”
The answer to the question “Is it right and godly to wish or pray for the destruction of your enemies?” It is not right, it is ungodly and contrary to the nature and mission of Christ. That Elijah or any one in the Old Testament did it does not mean it is right or approved by God. James and John rightfully referenced Elijah but the answer of the master was that the  it was wrong to do that.
Brother and fellow believers in Christ Jesus, we have been redeemed from sins, we are now sons and daughters of God, the Holy Spirit of God dwells in us, the love of God has taken residence in our spirit, deep within us lies the ability of God to overcome evil with good, let respond to our new nature always. When we found ourselves in situations that warrants cursing or praying for the destruction of believers let switch on to our new nature of love. The pool of love in us is greater than every urge to destroy. “Destructive prayer” is ungodly. It has no basis in Christ. Any believer doing or promoting it is working contrary to his nature and the essence of Christ which is to save life.
Luke 9:51-56 KJV
51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village
